tesa 4651

The construction of these tapes is notably different to duct and gaffer/mid range cloth tapes. Firstly, the mesh count is significantly higher at between 120 and 148 meaning the tensile strength is very much higher (e.g. 120 n/cm for tesa 4561 compared to 34 N/cm for tesa 4613 duct tape and 52 N/cm for tesa 4688 mid-range cloth tape). The adhesive offer very high adhesion – sometimes even to oily surfaces as is the case for tesa 4651 –and good abrasion resistance.

The coating is also different in that it is an acrylic paste rather than a PE film. The key benefit is a much improved resistance to UV and weathering making these tapes more suitable for outdoor use for prolonged periods. These tapes are also available in a variety of colours.

Additionally we have two tapes which are completely uncoated so they are for internal use only and are often used for e.g. wiring looms. Both have a very high tear-resistance – the ease with which a cloth tape can be torn by hand is a direct relationship to the mesh count but also the (amount of) surface coating.
