General Purpose Masking Tapes

General purpose masking tapes comprise of a paper backing or carrier and a natural rubber adhesive. It is important to remember the adhesive is not cured to any degree which means they have a limited temperature resistance and should not be left longer than 24 hours (Nopi 4349) or 3 days (tesa 4323) before removal otherwise they may leave adhesive residues. They should also not be used where they may come into (constant) contact with direct sunlight - such as glass – for anything other than the briefest possible period otherwise again they will be very difficult to remove and leave residue behind. For such applications there are specialist masking tapes in tesa’s range developed for such applications and we can’t stress enough that these should be used if a clean and residue free surface is desired.
