Congratulations from all at tesa UK Ltd go to Amy Williams for winning the gold medal at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics in the womens' skeleton title by an emphatic 0.56 seconds. In doing so Amy became Team GB’s first individual Olympic Winter Games gold medallist for 30 years and the first woman individual gold medallist for 58 years with team-mate Shelley Rudman, Team GB’s Turin 2006 silver medallist, finishing in sixth place.

Amy Williams wins GOLD!
tesa UK Ltd has for many years sponsored the British Bob Skeleton team with tesa 4651 cloth tape and it has a number of uses. Firstly, it is used on the top of the sled to keep in place the padding that the athlete lies. It is also used around the “saddle”, the part that the athlete holds onto and lies in between, to cover up all the metal parts and to provide grip for the athlete. On the bottom of the sled which is the part we call the bellypan it covers up the holes where the runners fit on the sled in not a dissimilar fashion that Formula 1 teams use tape to cover up the screw holes around the drivers cockpit. Finally most athletes use the tape to tape along the edges of the sled where the bellypan meets the padding.
