Recently gained UL certifications for six double sided PE foam tapes produced by tesa will help to increase market penetration for these products in key application sectors.

White and black coloured tapes tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. achieved temperature ratings of -35°C to 105°C on float glass, aluminium, PPE/HIPS (polyphenylene/high impact polystyrene), PPE/SB (polyphenylene/polystyrene butadiene) and PVF (polyvinyl fluoride. Dynamic shear resistance tests were also undertaken to verify adhesion performance.

Certifications were granted for tesa 4957, 62932, 62934, 62936, 62852 and 62854 tape products.

General purpose tape tesa 4957 features a highly conformable closed cell PE foam backing with a shear resistant modified acrylic adhesive. Suitable for outdoor use, its main applications include the fastening of POS displays, exhibition sample displays, shelf edge labels, cable channels, window and kitchen profiles, decorative glass or mirror elements on furniture, signs and emblems.

Constructive mounting tape tesa 62932 offers excellent long term adhesive performance in demanding constructive applications where there is a small design gap. Applications include the fixing of decorative aluminium cover screens on brown goods, door handles in kitchen furniture, moulded decorative profiles for refrigerators or freezers, glass and mirror panels.

Similarly, tesa 62934 double sided PE foam mounting tape is designed for constructive mounting applications. Particularly suited to shock absorption at low temperatures, it covers all the application areas for grade 62932 plus adhesion to moulded plastic parts.

Conformability and the capability to compensate for the thermal expansion rates of dissimilar materials have made tesa 62936 the tape of choice for junction box mounting. Now manufacturers who target UL 1703 approval can also use the tape. Featuring an adhesion system that delivers high ultimate adhesion performance the tape can also be used for fixing interior wall cladding panels and bumper rails on commercial refrigeration equipment.

Offering outstanding bond strength and temperature resistance alongside excellent converting properties enables tesa 62852 to be used for the permanent mounting of external branding, model number and engine classification lettering in the automotive industry.

The high foam elasticity properties of tesa 62854 combined with secure bonding performance make this tape suitable for fastening decorative trims and front panels in the white goods industry.
