We all start out small: Tender young shoots need special protection. Plastic film above the freshly sown seeds prevents the soil from drying out too quickly and ensures that moisture levels remain constant.

Putting it together

Along with a plastic or wooden fruit crate (from your local produce store), the only other things you need are wire netting or chicken wire from the lawn and garden store, plastic film, and transparent tesa® Extra Power.

Make a slight arch in the wire and cut it out using wire cutters, being sure that the piece will fit the exterior measurements of the fruit crate. Then make a border of tesa® Extra Power for the piece of wire mesh, with the adhesive side pointing inward.

Finally, cut a piece of plastic film to size and stick it from the outer side onto the wire mesh or the tape. Press it into place. Arrange your seedlings, planted or sown in small pots or bowls, inside the crate and cover with the plastic “roof”.
