Gaffer Tape

Gaffer tapes sit in the mid range of cloth tapes and typically have a higher mesh count. tesa 53949 and tesa 53799 are 0.31mm thick and both have a mesh count of 80 leading to about a 50% higher tensile strength than duct tapes. tesa 53949 has a PE coating but and a low reflective surface and can be used for applications in theatres for example. tesa 53799 has similar properties but is available in numerous colours including olive green.

tesa 4688 is very easy to tear by hand and leaves a very straight edge. It has a lower mesh count of 55 and a correspondingly lower tensile strength. It is available in 8 different colours and also has approval from AREVA for use in nuclear power stations according to TLV 9027/01 due to its low content of sulphur and halogens.

tesa 4665 is a transparent, PE coated cloth with up to 12 months resistance to UV making it ideal for long-term outdoor applications – especially where an invisible repair is required.
