tesa Solutions for the Automotive and Supplier Industry

A leader in innovative solutions for Wire Harnessing and Wire and Flat Cable Mounting

The majority of wires used for cables today are round but the future will see an increase in the use of flat wires. In fact many new cars are already equipped with this new generation of flat wires. The new flat cables, FFC (flat filmic cables) and FPC (flat printed circuit), allow more freedom in design compared to the traditional technology due to their light weight and space saving properties, for example, between the headliner and door interior where space is at a premium. Here the FFC/FPC is fixed in place by a single sided tape which also protects against abrasion. tesa offers an assortment of single and double sided tapes as well as complimentary dispensers which aid application and increase processing speeds.

Cable fixing tapes

The cable harnesses need to be fixed in place either on the bodywork or headliner for example. For such applications single sided tapes may be used which run either along the length of the harness, or across it at intervals. Double sided tapes may also be used if a harnesses is required to be fixed to two surfaces simultaneously.

Cable bundling

tesa's assortment for the bundling of cable harnesses is based on three different carriers: filmic, either PVC or PE, PET fleece and cloth. In the engine bay all three types may be used, but for the harnesses passing through the passenger compartment, the noise dampening and anti-vibration properties required mean a fleece or cloth tape is necessary.
