Masking for car body spraying

The tesa® range of self adhesive masking tapes for car body spraying provides optimum solutions for your application needs. Starting with standard masking protection for reliable adhesion on conventional paints and fillers, right down to special tapes with additional absorption properties, the tesa® range offers a choice of products tailored to the relevant oven drying temperature.

Masking tape

There are masking tapes for 80°C, the usual temperature for repair paint jobs, and products for in-line repairs for temperatures of 140°C and above.

The tesa® assortment contains masking tapes with high flexibility, for example, masking curves that offer excellent adhesion on plastics or that ensure excellent, clean paint edges. Sharp edges and quick, easy application are special features of tesa® masking tapes.

Specially developed machines and robots ensure the tapes are applied with pin-point accuracy. For areas that are difficult to reach with a roll of tape, tesa offers tailormade precision die cuts.

Window Flange Masking

Different coating layers between e-coat and glazing adhesives can lead to an insufficient bond strength between the top coating and the glazing adhesive.

To prevent this tesa has developed a masking tape for window flanges which is applied after e-coating. This protects the flanges against paint and impurities during processing.

Prior to assembly the tape can be removed even after more than one high temperature oven cycle. Additionally, as the e-coat is the substrate for mounting the windscreen no priming or other surface activation of the window flange is necessary.
