A new heat reflective adhesive tape which acts as a heat shield is now available from tesa. With the trend towards an increasing number of electronic components in a car’s engine bay, the need to protect such parts from radiant heat to preserve their performance is becoming ever important. The graph below illustrates the amount of radiant tesa 68000 can prevent being transmitted to a sensitive component.

For example, with an external heat source of 350°C an unprotected surface could reach a temperature of 140°C (blue bar). Applying tesa 68000 this temperature is reduced to 80°C (yellow bar) meaning a thermal effectiveness of 60°C (red bar).

tesa 68000 PV0 has a backing construction of aluminium foil and glass cloth combined with a solvent-free acrylic adhesive. tesa 68000 PV7 has a thin PET fleece layer which provides NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) protection. Both versions are available as kiss-cut die-cuts on a liner making them easy to remove and apply either as a flat-covering or as a sleeve.

Additionally benefits of tesa 68000 PV0 and PV7 include high durability, fuel, oil and chemical resistance and excellent adhesion to many surfaces. They also meet the following specifications:
