Two of the most pressing challenges of traditional flying splicing in flexo printing are the need to reduce printing speed and inconsistent performance of the splice leading to failures and production downtime.

tesa EasySplice FilmLine enables a fast and easy splice preparation and eliminates the need to reduce printing speed during splicing itself. At one of our customers, their existing splicing method required two operators using products not designed for splicing and predictably this method often failed. We recommended tesa 51910 EasySplice FilmLine Plus and the following benefits were immediately realised:

• One operator could prepare the simple, straight-line splice using just one tape, significantly reducing complexity at this crucial stage.

• The splicing speed increased to 480 metres per minute, reducing web variation and improving productivity.

• The splice performance itself was increased, failure rate was reduced almost to zero, productivity was increased, waste and downtime reduced.

Finally, reduced web variation ocurred on the laminator due to the higher splicing speed. This allowed a narrower trim area and reduced film roll widths, leading to significant long-term cost reductions.
